Does this use live prices?
No. Every figure is what you type. Mutual funds, gold and property are not fetched from the market.
Should I use market value or purchase price for a house?
Use a conservative estimate of what you could sell it for after costs, or the figure your lender uses. The calculator will not judge which is right.
Is a high net worth the same as being financially secure?
